Bilingual Licensed Care
Language House Nakajima is one of two licensed childcare facilities owned and operated by ILH and recognized by the City of Kawasaki, providing early childhood education that meets the high standards set by the local government. Established in April 2020, our fully bilingual environment includes both qualified Japanese childcare professionals and native English-speaking teachers working together in each classroom.
Tucked away in a quiet, residential area of Kawasaki, our school supports working families while nurturing confident, globally aware children in a safe, supportive setting.
We believe that introducing English from an early age gives children access to greater opportunities in the future. At the same time, we are committed to helping each child develop clear and expressive native Japanese, grounding them in both local culture and language.
At Language House, we continuously adapt our educational practices in line with global trends, while remaining deeply focused on the real needs of children and families living in modern, diverse communities like Kawasaki.

SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

Through bilingual education, our goal is to shape the next generation of proud and confident Japanese individuals who live in an increasingly global-minded society by equipping them with the independence and language skills necessary to step fearlessly into the future.

Understand different cultures and communicate effectively
-
Treat others with kindness

STRENGTHS

Professional Childcare
Supporting Children's Growth
Our team of experienced Japanese childcare providers, nurses, nutritionists, and international instructors work together to create a safe and caring environment.
With small class sizes and a home-like atmosphere, we support each child’s individual growth and help them thrive at their own pace.
We create a setting where children naturally build healthy daily habits through their everyday experiences.
As they gradually learn to do more on their own, they develop independence, cooperation, and a strong sense of routine—skills that form the foundation for confident growth.

Bilingual Program
Unique Activities
Infancy and early childhood are ideal stages for developing the ability to switch naturally between Japanese and English.
By beginning during this period of rapid language and physical development, children make remarkable progress.
With foreign instructors present throughout the day—not just during lesson time—children spend each moment immersed in English, building strong listening and communication skills through natural exposure.
We offer engaging activities that help children enjoy learning about countries and cultures from around the world, not just English.
Through food education, including lunches featuring dishes from various regions, children have opportunities to experience diverse cultures in a fun and meaningful way.

FAQ

Q: Can you explain more about the characteristics of bilingual childcare? A: Foreign instructors play with children and speak to them in English throughout the day. Through English activities and interaction, children naturally learn and absorb English.
Q: What are some of the features of the Curriculum? A: Japanese childcare providers and foreign instructors work together to conduct activities using English, such as play, music, art, and dance. While nurturing sensitivity and expressive abilities, we also place importance on Japanese culture and manners.
Q: What will the adjustment period be like for my child? A: The nursery works together with each parent to gradually ease their children into nursery life, ensuring they can start with peace of mind.
Q: What kind of school lunches are provided? A: We provide school lunches with a focus on nutritional balance. Once a month, we create menus featuring regional specialties and international cuisine. For special dietary needs, we will work with families to accommodate requests within reasonable limits.
Q: Are there any required Items and/or preparations I need to make before enrolling my child? A: We ask that you prepare a colored hat (to distinguish from other children's) and items such as a bath towel for naptime. You may also optionally use a diaper subscription service (this is a separate flat-rate service).
Q: Is extended childcare available? A: Yes, extended childcare is available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM and from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Additional fees apply based on usage.
Q: Regarding the Parent/Teacher Contact Notebook: A: Children ages 1 and 2 use an app to keep track of their personal communication. Children ages 3 and older do not have individual communication books. Instead, they use a class activity log to keep them updated on their daily activities.
Q: Are tours available of the nursery? A: Tours are available (by appointment only) and can be scheduled at any time. Please feel free to contact us!
Q: Is there a Parent Teacher Association (PTA)? A: No, there is no PTA. If parent support is required for classroom/school events, we will notify you ahead of time.

WHY BILINGUAL?

As the environment surrounding Japan undergoes major changes, the level of communication skills required of children in the future will also need to be more advanced than it is today. From a young age, it is imperative to provide children with opportunities to practice differentiating between Japanese and English, comprehending both languages, and using varied communication styles depending on the situation.
Infancy and early childhood is the best age to start learning about "habits," "language," and "daily routines." . Language House Nakajima provides valuable learning opportunities that cannot be experienced at English cram schools or tutoring schools that children can use as they continue and progress into elementary school.
